After a fairly long driving day, we setup and used the afternoon to explore Kalbarri on foot.
It was a nice spot, right on the river with the ocean a short walk further. Heading up to the lookout we were amazed to see the channel boats take between the river and sea. It was narrow, twisty and sketchy looking. We found a playground for the kids and marked out some things to do for the next few days.
One thing was for certain, poor Kalbarri had been hit hard by cyclone Seroja and was still trying to recover.
