Fire was yet again causing chaos with our travel plans. We decided to wing it today. And figure out our next two nights as we went.

The Ranger had called us yesterday advising that the Fitzgerald River Park was closed due to bush fire. It would certainly remain closed for our first night camping there. Later in the day a waterbombing plane crash pretty much guaranteed the second was gone too.

We had a few options between different free camps and caravan parks. The first free camp in Ravensthorpe was fullish and unappealing. There were plenty of spots at the two caravan parks in Hopetoun. Lucky for us though, we checked the free camp in Hopetoun and jagged the last spot. 100m from the beach, sheltered from the wind and for the princely sum of zero dollars!
