22 February 2023

We have been familiar with heat in our lives. We have been really familiar with heat on this trip. Today in Ceduna was the hottest day of our lives. Insane.

It was 44 degrees according to the BoM. All the local said it is always at least two degrees hotter, sometimes more. Let’s say 46 degrees. Our caravan was in full sun from sunup to sunset and the breeze died. We’d improvised awnings to increase shade, cranked the air-con and dug out the fans. It wasn’t enough.

We hid inside, wet our shirts and waited until it was cooler (sub-40) when it was safe(ish) to head out.

A pre-dawn jetty. The only time of day to exercise.
