Arriving in the West Macdonnell Ranges, Redbank was going to be our home for the next three nights.

It turns out Redbank is one of the places less travelled. Too far from Alice Springs for a day trip and with less facilities that other places keeps people away. Fine by us, we had a secluded site in the Woodlands Campground and went to explore the Redbank Gorge.

It was interesting, there was not much of a path to follow and we ended up walking the creekbed. Walking was slow on the sand before it turned to rock hopping. The gorge closed in and there was a pool at the end. The water was like ice, but still Hannah stripped off for a swim. She was alone in that endeavour from our family.

Apparently, the gorge closed up further and those brave enough to swim were rewarded further on. We were not rewarded this time.

The view of the walk into Redbank Gorge. High walls and the start of the water.
