Throughout the entire trip, we have been trying to tick certain rare, special or just interesting animals off our list. The Thorny Devil was the last unsighted creature.
Today was the day that we ticked it off the list, although we did cheat. It wasn’t spotted in the wild though, we finally saw it behind the glass at the Alice Springs Desert Park. This wasn’t as exciting as an in the wild spotting but still pretty cool.
Watching these oddest of lizards, with their stilted, jerky movements eating ants was both amusing and mesmerising. Tongue flicks out, ant disappears.
