We had one big splash of cash while in Kununurra, booking a boat cruise and tour on the Ord River. It was a big day, but really showed the area off.
A coach picked us up and took us to Lake Argyle. We stopped at the old Durack Family Homestead, which was carefully relocated stone by stone when the dam was built. We also got to see the lake from the wall before stopping just opposite the hydro station to board the boat.
The day though was all about the trip downstream. Part jet boat trip, part nature cruise, part history tour and afternoon tea, it culminated in a stunning sunset near town. Worth the money it showed the impacts in so many ways of what was once a nation building project.
