Abby and I were looking at our trip so far and planning the next legs when we realised we’d managed to keep track of some curious numbers. We thought it might be worth sharing. It shows how far we’ve come and how we have done it. It’s a little out of order as far as the blog is concerned, but as of the 5th of November the numbers look like this…

  • 25,000: since picking up our MU-X in January we’ve driven more than 25,000km
  • 13,000: since we picked up the caravan in mid-July, we’ve driven more than 13,000km
  • 9,800: the caravan itself has clocked up over 9,800km of travel
  • 5,623: for our time so far, we’ve spent $5,623 on accommodation
  • 4,767: between July and the end of October, we’ve spent $4,767 on diesel
  • 2,200: more than 2,200km has been done without air-conditioning
  • 283: the most we’ve paid for diesel is $2.83 (in Tom Price)
  • 205: it’s been 205 days since Abby last worked
  • 190: it’s been 190 days since Christian last worked
  • 113: we’ve now spent 113 consecutive nights sleeping in our caravan
  • 45: those 113 nights have been slept in 45 different towns, cities or stops
  • 35: 35 weeks of Home Schooling has been delivered (somewhat painfully) so far
  • 14: the most consecutive nights we have spent in one place (Broome)
  • 3: our travels have taken us through three states
  • 2: we’ve broken down by the roadside twice
  • 1: we’ve had one broken bone

It’s not really a number, but we’ve loved it so far. We haven’t enjoyed every minute, but the bad days are well and truly a minority.

There will still be bigger numbers to come, many more kilometres, days, dollars and hours on the road will be racked up having the trip of a lifetime.
