If Castle Rock was the entrée, Bluffs Knoll was the main course. A 650m climb to the very peak, winding up through the vegetation.
It was steeper and far longer than Castle Rock. It took us four hours to go up and down. The top section was coming in and out of cloud, the winds would come and go and it yo-yoed between hot and cold. It was alpine-like at the top. Just brilliant.
One of the best walks ever, without a doubt. It’s one of our top five, beaten with certainty only by a walk we completed at Lake Waikaremoana in NZ. Even the kids were enjoying it.
