It was the day of reckoning – Laura had her next hospital appointment. Would we suffer yet another delay or would her thumb have healed and her cast could be removed? Fortunately for her (especially) and all of us, her cast came off!
As with all her hospital appointments we divided and conquered. Christian went into town and did the seemingly endless list of errands while Abby was at the hospital. The difference this time was that with no tenderness or swelling they didn’t even bother with an x-ray. Laura’s cast came off and stayed off.
It was a big relief all around. This little problem would not delay our departure and Laura was able to get back to (most) of the things she’d missed out on. Swimming and playgrounds seemed to be the number one priority so we made sure she would get her chance in the coming days.
