After spending some time along the Murray River, today was the day to visit the Coorong, the lake system at the mouth of the Murray.

We didn’t actually see the mouth today, that happens in a week or so. Instead, we explored from the shoreline. Both Lake Alice and Lake Alexandrina are beautiful. The Coorong itself though was the main show. The shallow strip of water between the dunes facing the Southern Ocean and the mainland was very special. The dunes on the spit were amazing to see, as was the birdlife, wildlife and a lone seal. We took a few of the roads less travelled and got close to everything.

Despite spending the day in the car, it felt like we’d hardly driven and the scenery kept us entertained.
