A COVID diagnosis for a friend of a friend meant two tickets to the North Queensland Cowboys game were available. We couldn’t say no, so Christian and Hannah got to cheer the Cowboys to a (very controversial) victory against the Wests Tigers.
The girls had never been exposed to professional sport. All sport is on pay TV in New Zealand and we are far to cheap to buy that. This year we sat them down to get their first experience of State of Origin Rugby League. Hannah was glued to the TV and watched all 80 minutes of all three matches (Queenslander!).
We quickly accepted the tickets and Hannah got to see her first footy match. She was a little overwhelmed at the start. 15,000 screaming fans, fireworks and second row seats were a shock to her senses. She quickly learned to enjoy the atmosphere and a Cowboys try right in front of her got her cheering.
