We made an early start to get the Emma Gorge before it got too hot. The early start made for a pleasant walk and we had the gorge almost to ourselves.

Emma Gorge is on another part of the El Questro station and is relatively sheltered early in the day, with its high walls. Our early arrival meant the sun was still rising and the colours on the wall were constantly changing. The walk along the creek bed is pretty, with the constant water creating some welcome greenery.

The main feature is the waterfall at the end. It cascades into a beautiful and large pool, although it had slowed to a trickle this late in the dry season. As we swam around we gained a constantly changing perspective of the gorge and its walls. The Emma Gorge pool has a bonus feature, hidden away in one corner is a small hot spring flowing out of the rock face. The kids loved the private natural spa.

As we left it was getting busy, our timing was perfect.
