In all our years camping and caravanning, we have never had a fire. The kids have roasted marshmallows elsewhere but never over our camp fire. Christian was keen for a fire, there was a fire pit adjacent and plenty of wood to collect. So, on our second night at Eungella Dam we had our first ever camp fire.
We didn’t come prepared to have a fire. After watching everyone else’s on the first night the temptation was too strong. Christian got out the saw and cut up some fallen branches, the kids collected sticks, barks and leaves and old school materials provided some paper. We had everything we needed, so as dusk approached we gave it a shot. It worked (there was an element of surprise that Christian could actually get a fire going from scratch) and our very small supply of marshmallows were soon exhausted.
