We decided to stop at Hamersley Gorge on the way to Tom Price. It is one of the gorges within Karijini National Park.

It made for a couple of firsts for us. Our first Grade 5 walk (albeit very short) and our first gorge where other than a short walk it was all about the water. Any exploration required swimming. We did the Spa Pool, which was clearly some kind of influencers paradise. But for us it was travelling the gorge in the other direction that was the highlight. We swam until we were cold and tired. Others had told us we’d run out of strength before we ran out of this pretty place.

We later learned that we should have worn the wetsuits and gone deeper. Live and learn.
