Our early arrival in Kununurra gave us some time in the evening to explore. After a long day in the car some exercise up the lookout and checking out the famous Ivanhoe’s Crossing was in order.

Ivanhoe’s Crossing is the old Ord River crossing in Kununurra. It’s a causeway, but the always flowing Ord means there is about 300mm plus of water over the road. It’s also long, curved, slippery and no longer a gazetted road. It meant testing the crossing was not for us, but we had plenty of fun watching others test their vehicles and their luck.

Various vehicles all took the challenge, some doing it faster and easier than others. It was a spectacle to see but pointless risks are not on our itinerary.

Another two take on Ivanhoe’s Crossing
