On another driving day we decided to stop on the way to our overnighter at Timber Creek. It was a chance to see some more rock art and see the amazing geology up close.

The whole drive towards and into the park was stunning. Sheer red and orange walls, different shapes and rock formations made the drive beautiful. When we got into Joe Creek Rest Area for the  Ngawilbinbin Walk, it was hot. We ate, prepared for the walk and hoped the cliff walls would provide some shade.

There was less shade and less rock art than we had hoped. The rock formations were still amazing up close and the shade did create its own tropical ecosystem. Worth the stop but quite a bit harder than expected.
