At the information centre in Karijini, we realised we’d allowed more time than we needed. They soon filled our extra time with the suggestion to do an extra walk into Kalamina Gorge.
We had left it off our list as it required a drive down one of the “notoriously rough” unsealed roads in the park. We were quickly informed though that the road was nothing compared to the others we’d travelled and that Kalamina was worth the effort.
The information centre was 100% correct, it was worth the effort. It was a challenging walk down into the through the gorge which was pretty in itself. It opened into one of the most different swimming experiences we’d had so far. It was quite broad and with some effort you could swim down to the end and explore the place. It was cold and a long swim, but worth it when you climbed out the other see and looked back.
The unexpected paid off again.
