We stopped in Karratha at the insistence of Christian’s mum. They had lived here in the late 80s and she wanted to know how things had changed.

We have passed through many mining towns over the years and can honestly say Karratha is one of the best. We were pleasantly surprised as we explored town and the surrounds. It had a pretty town centre, some amazing public facilities and great access to some natural attractions.

Christian only had two distinct memories of this place, the Sturt Desert Pea and the salt pans. We found them both on our travels here, making him smile.
