Kings Canyon is really all about the Rim Walk. The whole place is rather special, but the Rim Walk is the jewel.
The walk itself comes with all kinds of disclaimers and has claimed many lives from the heat. In reality, it’s a short steep climb at the start, followed by an easy walk around the rim. A couple of more difficult but worthwhile detours take you to lookouts and waterholes. If you are prepared and avoid the heat its quite easy.
It is also incredibly beautiful. We usually keep a fairly quick pace on our walks, but once we hit the rim we dawdled. It was too good to rush. The views to the opposite wall very incredible and the side walks to the water holes were very special. We got their pretty early and had the place practically to ourselves.
It was another one of the top walks so far.
