Much like a James Bond Martini, we spent much of the day shaken, not stirred. There are two roads into (or out of) Lawn Hill. One is the recommended route, the other is not.

We’d taken the recommended route in but the alternative route passed a site we wanted to visit. It is also substantially shorter and came out where we wanted to stop for the night. We traded 240km of extra driving for an extra 100km of unsealed road.

The recommended route in wasn’t that flash (80km of unsealed) and reports were this alternate route was much the same. This was substantially true, except the few sections that were not “much the same” shook the absolute shite out of everything.

Driving speed dropped to a less shaking 20km/h, tire pressures were dropped and Laura loudly proclaimed her hatred for being shaken by the corrugations.
