After our success at Steep Point, we decided to try our luck with Skipjack Point in Peron National Park.

Indications it would be a similar style of day to Steep Point. Challenging 4WD tracks, leading to a series of lookouts and beaches. It was certainly true, although the 4WD was a lot more difficult. The beaches were spectacular, but the lookouts proved some of the best so far. We spent a looong time at Skipjack Point spotting wildlife. Sharks, two kinds of massive rays, birds, fish and dugongs were all putting on a show at some point.

Eventually though, for novices like us it proved too much. After surviving the whole day soft sand driving (which included some hairy moments) we got bogged. Bogged to our side-steps at our very last stop. On the bright side, the recovery boards we have been carrying since Mount Isa got a use!

Bogged. Taken after our first failed extraction. Big hole behind us was the first trap.
