Around Streaky Bay is a couple of short driving loops. One of them happens to take you past Smooth Pool.
The name was enough to get the kids excited. When we told them it is recommended for snorkelling they were happier. We got the gear all ready and headed out. On arrival we were met by the cooler change and some stiff breeze.
It was definitely a smooth pool; a rocky little bay sheltered from the surf. But it was quite shallow, the tide was out and it was too cold to snorkel. Hannah was not happy, but we compromised and let them explore the rock pools sans snorkel.
Eventually they didn’t want to leave.
