Chatting with other campers and walkers left us with the impression that the climb up Mount Sondor was not to be missed.

It wasn’t part of the plan, but we squeezed a few things into the day before. That left us the whole day to climb Mount Sondor. This would be some kind of record for us. It was both the longest distance (16km) and highest climb (700m) we have ever completed. We were surprised that the kids didn’t throw up more of an opposition.

Despite the tough climb, a tantrum or two and some very tired legs, we all made it, up and back in about seven hours. The views were incredible. At the top and along the entire walk there was the vast West MacDonnell Ranges to see.
