It’s not often an attraction is so good you visit twice on consecutive days. Staircase to the Moon was a rarity though.

The concept of watching the moonrise over the mudflats at low tide and appearing as a staircase to the moon felt far fetched. But it was true to its word.

We grabbed fish and chips and watched the moon rise. The foreshore was packed, markets were on and it was buzzing. They aren’t wrong, it’s a clearly identifiable staircase. So good we decided to rinse and repeat the following evening as well. It paid off as being later in the evening the colours were different again.

Staircase to the moon. Our photos don’t begin to do it justice
