We took a step back in time and went for a ride on the Steam Train from Victor Harbor to Goolwa.

It was one of those things you did for no other reason than you could. We had driven through Goolwa when we went to visit the Murray Mouth, but didn’t stop. On the train we had the chance to both take in the ocean views as the train ran along the coastline for part of the journey before stopping for a while in Goolwa. We went for a walk to explore the heritage main street and wharf area before re-boarding for the return journey.

It was certainly more pleasant than our last steam driven experience in Whanganui. That time the coal ash spewing from the funnel of our paddle steamer burned any exposed skin it landed on.
