Swike – the combination of swimming and hiking where both are required to reach a goal.
We had walked to swim or crossed creeks before. To experience both Handrail Pool and Kermit’s Pool you need to both hike (and it was the most difficult hikes we’ve done) and swim (properly swimming for quite a distance) to get to the end.
It was a day we’d been looking forward too, as these were two the most challenging walks we have done. The swims were not easy either as they were cold and slippery through narrow and darkened gorges. Handrail Pool was so difficult that we decided not to take the kids to the second pool in the end.
Without a doubt it was worth it, especially since nobody got hurt (or died – it turns out these walks are notorious for serious injuries and death).
Thought u had found a new man Abby. It’s so long since we have seen a ean shaven Christian. Was the red dirt the culprit?
Lucky for me she hasn’t! I shaved it clean for the snorkelling mask. Turns out I looked ridiculous and it was completely unnessecary.
