Passing through Adelaide River and visiting the Commonwealth War Graves was a case of right place, right time.
We’ve been listening to the audiobook “The War that Saved my Life”. It’s a story about the impact WWII had on two children. The story had recently covered the bombing of London. We had many conversations about what this meant and had been relating it the story of the bombing of Darwin.
The Adelaide River Memorial helped us tell this story. The photos, videos, personal stories and helped bring the girls closer to understanding both the book and the terrible events experienced in Darwin. If you are going past, make the stop as it tells the stories so well, so succinctly and in a beautiful location.
