Today was a driving day with a difference. Absolutely punishing winds pushed us around all day between Camooweal and Tennant Creek.

We were warned the night before that the wind would be picking up in the morning, so we packed away the awning ready for the road. It turns out this warning was a bit of an understatement. The winds that arrived were well beyond what we expected.

We had them coming across us almost all day at close to 100km/h. That kind of wind side on to a caravan made for some hairy moments. We dropped our speed, white knuckled the wheel and watched the fuel economy plummet.

Worst of all, the next day would be a rinse and repeat. Luckily more behind us than broadside.
